What Is The Best Electric Mountain Bike?

Electric mountain bikes are something that is fairly new to the mountain biking world and is very much debated. While most of the avid mountain bikes no doubt see this as a form of cheating, there are some advantages to going electric if you happen to be somewhat out of shape.

My recommendation for the best electric mountain bike is the Ancheer Power Plus Electric Mountain Bike. It has a lot of great features and it is a bike that you can use on either the rough trails or for commuting to and from work.

That being said, there is a lot more to this bike than that, as well as some facts about electric mountain biking that you might be very interested to know. However, if you are more interested in choosing your own electric mountain bike, then you can find a few tips to keep in mind for that too.

Ancheer Power Plus Electric Mountain Bike

This electric mountain bike looks great for any occasion and it comes with a battery that can be easily taken off of the bike in order to recharge it at any electric port that you have available to plug it in at. The battery does not weigh much and it can go from completely dead to fully charged in around 5 hours, which is not a bad timeframe at all.

A single charge can last you for quite a while and, when and if it does run out while you are on the trail, this bike is perfectly capable of letting you pedal manually like any other bike. In fact, if you wanted to do so you could take the battery out, leave it at home, and use your bike as a regular mountain bike without the weight of the battery there to slow you down.

When you are using the electric feature, the bike can go around 20 miles per hour which is plenty of speed for the average biker who is not trying to run a race or anything. You can sit back and let the mountain bike do all the work for you for up to a couple of hours if there are not too many big hills that it has to go over, but it can last a lot longer if you are only using the assist feature to help you up hills and pedaling on your own for the flat terrain.

This bike has both a front V brake in addition to having a back electric vehicle brake. This double breaking is a unique feature and ensures that you can come to a stop before you hit whatever is in your way.

Another feature that is really nice to have about the Ancheer electric mountain bike is that it also comes with some really bright LED lights. These lights are great for night riding and they do not take up too much of the battery when you use them, making sure that you will not run out of battery while you are on the trail at night.

This bike also comes with a very loud bell that you can use to alert other people, or the wildlife that you might not want to run into, to your presence. Or, should you run into anything in spite of the bell and the great brakes that this bike gives you, the fact that the frame of this bike is made of carbon steel means that it should come out of the crash just fine.

The rest of the bike besides the frame is mostly made out of aluminum, which is also of excellent quality and which gives the whole bike a very sturdy feel to it when you are on it. Supposedly this bike can even safely hold the weight of someone who is just over 300 pounds. Though the bike as a whole does weigh more do to the frame material and the electric features, it still comes in at just a little over 50 pounds.

This will make it notably heavier on the trail if you are using it as just a mountain bike, but this is still lighter than some of the other electric mountain bike options that are out there. When it comes to price, the Ancheer is also much more affordable than many of the other electric bike options, even being cheaper than a fair portion of ordinary mountain bikes that do not have the electric feature to them.

This electric bike is a hardtail design, which means that there is a suspension only in the front, and it has a wheel size of 26”. It also comes with a seat which can be angled and that can be easily adjusted for comfort. As a mountain bike it comes with 21 speeds which are controlled from the grip ends. The electrical part of the bike also has three different speeds of its own that you can choose from which are controlled from the handlebar as well.

The tires that the electric bike comes with have a versatile tread design that is similar to what you usually see on hybrid bikes and the rims on them are made of aluminum alloy. As an added bonus it even comes equipped with its own kickstand so that you do not have to lay it down on the ground or stand a chance of getting the paint scratched by leaning it up against a tree on the trail.

What You Want To Look For In An Electric Bike

When it comes to picking out on electric bike, there are a few things that you will want to look at before you make your final decision. The first thing that you should look at is the weight. Any electric mountain bike is going to weight more than a mountain bike would, that is a given. But a good electric mountain bike should still weigh only about 20 pounds or so more.

Part of what will affect the weight the most is the frame. Right now almost all of the electric mountain bikes that are available are either steel or an aluminum compound. This is because the electric parts have to be attached to a sturdy frame, but it also adds a lot to the weight. Generally speaking it is far better to go with an aluminum frame.

The next thing that will likely be on the top of the list when it comes to things to consider is the battery of the electric bike. This should be easy to charge, preferably with a battery that can be taken off of the bike entirely in order to plug it in. You should at least be aware of the fact that some kinds do not have this option, meaning that you have to take your whole bike and park it next to an outlet while it charges.

The battery should also have a nice life that will last you the length that you need it to out on the trail. Part of this will depend on the quality of the motor and how good of a job it does at transferring the energy into forward momentum.

You should always try to get a battery that will last a little longer that you need it for. This is not only just in case something happens, but also because over time the battery will not hold its charge as well. For this reason you want a battery that says that it can last for a number of charge cycles, most batteries that involve lithium ion are great for this.

Finally there are other things that you will want to look at, such as whether you want to go with a hardtail or full-suspension electric mountain bike. Then there is also the fact that there are certain electric mountain bikes that have the ability to let you fold them up to take less space when they are not in use. While this can be a really nice feature to have, it is also likely to cost more than a bike that does not have this feature.
